Η MC20 GT2 θα περάσει στις πίστες το 2023 για το Ευρωπαϊκό Πρωτάθλημα της σειράς Fanatec GT2 και φυσικά στόχος της είναι να συνεχίσει τις σπουδαίες νίκες που είχε καταφέρει η MC12 στα GT Πρωταθλήματα της FIA, από το 2004 έως το 2010. Στο σημείο αυτό αξίζει να αναφέρουμε ότι η MC12 έχει κερδίσει τρεις φορές, το 2005, το 2006 και το 2008, στις 24 Ώρες του Σπα.

Σύμφωνα με την ιταλική εταιρεία η νέα αγωνιστική MC20 GΤ2 βασίζεται στην «πολιτική» MC20, από την οποία έχει κληρονομήσει τον V6 twin-turbo 3.0 λίτρων κινητήρα Nettuno, απόδοσης 630 ίππων, με τεχνολογία ΜΤC (Maserati Twin Combustion). Συνεργάζεται με σειριακό 6αρι κιβώτιο ταχυτήτων που φέρει και paddles, ενώ μεταδίδει την κίνηση στους πίσω τροχούς. Το «παρών» δίνει αγωνιστικών προδιαγραφών συμπλέκτης και μηχανικό διαφορικό περιορισμένης ολίσθησης.
Με την υπογραφή του Maserati Centro Stile η νέα MC20 GΤ2 έχει πλάτος και ύψος 2.020 χλστ. και 1.220 χλστ. αντίστοιχα. Διατηρεί το monocoque της πλαίσιο από ανθρακονήματα και τη διάταξη της ανάρτησης με διπλά ψαλίδια. To αγωνιστικό της bodykit ενισχύει την αεροδυναμική της απόδοση, όπως η ρυθμιζόμενη μεγάλη της αεροτομή και ο πίσω διαχύτης.
Όσον αφορά τις προδιαγραφές ασφαλείας της FΙΑ η νέα MC20 GΤ2 διαθέτει πυροσβεστήρα, ρεζερβουάρ 120 λίτρων, Lexan μπροστινά και πλαϊνά παράθυρα, roll cage, τροχούς 18 ιντσών με κεντρικά μπουλόνια και σλικ ελαστικά, αγωνιστικών προδιαγραφών φρένα και δαγκάνες, ζώνη ασφαλείας 6 σημείων, πολυλειτουργικό τιμόνι από ανθρακονήματα, ρυθμιζόμενο αγωνιστικό ABS και σύστημα ελέγχου πρόσφυσης, κλιματισμό και ρυθμιζόμενη κολόνα τιμονιού.

Maserati to race in the Fanatec GT2 European Series Championship in 2023
Another big step in the Maserati motorsport strategy: the MC20 – designed ever since its early stages of development to bring the Trident back on track in closed-wheel competitions – will feature in the Fanatec GT2 European Series Championship, making its debut in 2023. Maserati will be offering its customers and teams the MC20 GT2.
MC20 GT2 is based on the road version, from which it inherits its best-in-class specifications. These include the innovative Nettuno engine with new Maserati Twin Combustion (MTC) technology, double-wishbone suspension with semi-virtual steering axis and carbon fibre monocoque.
Maserati’s return to the track in GT competitions represents the ideal link between the brand’s new era and the victories achieved by the frequently victorious MC12 in the FIA GT Championships from 2004 to 2010.
Specifically, to highlight the link between the MC12 and MC20, at the 24 Hours of Spa – won three times by the MC12 (in 2005, 2006 and 2008) – Maserati is ushering in the new Maserati Corse era with an experience dedicated to the glorious milestones in its sporting history.
